The iBook that I chose was the Apple TV: A Deployment Guide. This year was my first interaction of Apple TV. Coming a school where technology was not a huge thing, I was instantly hooked on the idea of using Apple TV in the classroom. I love how I can show what is on my screen and simply draw or navigate the lesson as it goes on. And if I have a class that has a one to one ratio, showing projects using this technology. I would love to have one for my classroom, and even started to research more about their abilities. The newer versions are able to download apps and utilize them in the classroom. One app that I would like to utilize is YouTube. With the new Sire built into the Apple TV, searching for videos is so much easier.
In this iBook, the author Paul Yip, does a great job of addressing the concerns that may be involved in with implementing Apple TV's in the classroom. He talks about the drawbacks and the benefits and even how much money you can save by using an apple tv instead of the using the interactive whiteboards some classrooms may have. I did realize however his price for the Apple TV are a little off. I have been shopping for a new one for a few weeks now. A 32 GB system cost $140-150 today, whereas his information states it is around $100. His other numbers seem to be right. He also mentions how to set up the system to best fit the classroom.
Overall I liked the book, and feel confident I can set up my own Apple TV and use it in the future in the best interest for my students.
